Since the first time I got to see him there, I couldn't wait for Corin Raymond to come back to The Velvet Olive. I'd always say just that, "I can't wait for Corin Raymond to come back to The Velvet Olive. Then BOOM whatta ya know? I saw an Instagram post that Corin Raymond is coming back to The Velvet Olive, so I promptly bought tickets. Simple as that, you love to see it.
The show started off with Scott dinging a glass to gather the attention of the crowd, followed by him serenading us to kick off his grand performance. Scott is as great a storyteller as a musician like Corin and you can tell that easily from his performance and crowd control. I was ecstatic to see a 5-string banjo on the stage when we arrived and even more so to hear Scott play it.
I can't think of a more passionate performer than Corin Raymond, it might sound cliche, but you can truly see him put his heart and soul into every song. I might usually have a video or so on my phone of the show to share, but I was completely captivated by the performance and didn't want to miss a second of it. (I suppose as it should be)
Both Scott and Corin are excellent song writers, and emphasis on the "writers" as they include 200+ word write ups in some of their albums! The words these two can string together can't be described as anything other than pure poetry.
Corin always provides us with the greatness of those "small times" shared at places like The Velvet Olive when "folks like him sing songs for folks like me."
