Jade Elephant at The Velvet Olive

Alright this kinda blurry/lighting-skewed photo actually looks pretty cool
I've seen these guys play a number of times while they went as another band name. So I knew I had to see them as Jade Elephant. As a matter of fact, I've seen these guys vibrate the walls of the exact same building before. It was a bit odd to not hear them belting out "Green Rover" or something, but I'm happy to conclude that they rock equally as hard no matter what they choose to call themselves. If there ever was any doubt, they still know how to completely bring the house down. It was amazing to hear new tunes that I've completely slept on and see a crowd in complete silence while we were being entirely enthralled and captivated by Taylor's drum solo. As great as it was to hear their originals that I lacked familiarity with (I'll add that I'll definitely be doing some further listening now), their version of Deep Purple's "Hush" was particularly welcomed. I made sure to not take my own advice and stubbornly left my earplugs in my jacket pocket during the entire performance.
But I loved every second of it.
Very sad to know that this will likely be the last show that I catch at The Velvet Olive :(
