It appears as though I may have jumped the gun on my last blog. It also made me reflect on some other great releases that have tickled my fancy as of late.
Peter Dreams of July Talk fame just released his debut album with MOONRIIVR, under a self titled name. It's about as haunting as you'd expect. Maybe even a little bit more haunting than you'd expect when basing an opinion from the sample of pre-released tracks. But only for some tracks like "Do Like I Do" and the less daunting, good vibes pick back up for tracks like "Arrivals" or the more familiar "Forget Yer Name". Either way you look at it or hear it, more stuff from Peter is magnificent.
*The use of both haunting and daunting was intentional, not a typo
Speaking of daunting, the use of the heavy sounding fog horn kind of thing in Lucette's new track "Heading For The End" is completely captivating and has become one of the most frequently listened in my playlist. Be careful that one is totally chill sounding but will also rattle your bath water. That is one of those tracks that you truly feel. She also just released "Too Soon For Sorry" on valentines to combat your loneliness. "I wish I let you in instead of letting you down" :( I luckily got to see Lucette perform live in a lovely little intimate venue called The Velvet Olive a while ago.
On a more Irish traditional kind of note. The "Sam Hall" single that was released by Amble back in December is completely beautiful like everything else I've heard from them.
These blogs are all over the place.
