I always tell the story of when I was but a little teenage snot still living in Newfoundland and was here visiting some family that involves my first day ever at Westerner Days and The Sheepdogs. I was at the park all day and didn't know they played the same night I was there until after the fact. So I missed them, I was a big fan and of course I wasn't "Feeling Good". (that one was too easy not to go for). Well that story now has a happy ending, because I got to see The Sheepdogs play at Westerner days of course. It seemed like I might be adding another sad tale to the story because some thunder and lightning decided to hit right as the performance was supposed to start, delaying it by 2 hours. But after a lengthy session of listening to growingly impatient folks chant SHEEPDOGS, and slight obscenities about the weather, they finally took the stage. A version 10 - 12 years younger of myself would be absolutely jacked to see it. The tone and aesthetic of The Sheepdogs alone would be worth potentially being struck with millions of volts of electricity from lightning and stage equipment anyway. They are some of the coolest looking and sounding 70's southern rock embodiments of Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers that you'll find on a stage today. "Who?" live is complete filth and the slow riff that it offers is so raw and stood out so greatly while it slowed down but added a heaviness to the set so tastefully. It now holds the throne for the new song to be looping in my head endlessly for the ensuing few days. It's never ending, there's always one. But that "Five Easy Pieces" EP is completely gracious in its entirety and any of its songs could be stuck in my brain on repeat, "The Middle Road" likely has held the title the longest but sadly wasn't featured in the setlist. Thankfully every other tune on the EP was. My first Sheepdogs show was definitely worth the wait.

My brain would like to ask you a question: Who? Who? Who do you belong to?

They've been around here quite a few times and it's my fault that I didn't make attendance at one of their shows happen until now, and I should be ashamed of myself. Being a fan for so long, I'm certainly glad that I finally did and the little teenage dork (still a dork just not a teenager) me got a happy ending to his story.
