I've got something to admit. Colter Wall's Haunting voice lives in my head rent free at just about any given time of day. "Caroline, oh Caroline, i'll be home just a' any ol' time, the grave in the garden won't be satisfied til' your name is next to mine." As i've always been a closeted country music listener (cue the Randy Travis and Townes Van Zandt) this is the kinda bluesier/outlaw/Americana country shit that I just eat up. Not to mention the feature from the almighty The Dead South on "Johnny Boy's Bones" which is the band that pioneered my current bluegrass music obsession and largely influenced my love for playing the banjo. The pairing of these two artists is just exactly what everyone needed and their truly must be something in the water in Saskatchewan. "And he died killing men, a most honourable sin" On the Saskatchewan artists note, I'd also have to recommend that you check out Jake Vaadeland if you haven't. But basically this album keeps it real short and sweet with only 7 tracks and is definitely a good spot to start if you're new to Colter Wall and want to hear some popular tracks including "Sleeping on the Blacktop".
