Your favourite band was a "new" band at one point. New to you anyway. It's worth a shot, you might hear something you really like, or not, at least you tried. You can't wish you stayed home if you didn't go out! You might find a gem though. You can't just shut it down before you really know. (well actually you can, but shouldn't) "I don't know it's not my usual genre"? Even better!
