Is that roof a bit slanted or is it just me? (or both)
Every person that is told to "support local" can't/ doesn't always.
That's a given. But do it as much as you can!
The best kinds of shows are the intimate ones. Of course everyone loves to see their favourite people running around on a stadium stage with flames flying and shit. But the best way to hear the music is at a smaller venue. There are tons of songs about it, (cue "There Will Always Be A Small Time" - Corin Raymond) and we truly need to keep these places alive.
Also, those big stadium bands have to start somewhere!
I know where I want to be. Sitting somewhere listening to good tunes. Favourably in closer proximity while not rupturing my old ear drums.
"Home is where I want to be" - Talking Heads
It is actually the best when you get to sit down to hear a good act and there aren't many stairs involved. That's what I want. We need local music scenes to do that. I guess I am a simple being?
Being the youngest one there is alright too.
It would be much harder and a fire hazard to pack too many people into a smaller venue. (cue example of the Great White show at The Station) So let's not do that.
Writing this blog made me think of something more specifically that I need to stress...
There are many great venues still alive but...
R.I.P THE VELVET OLIVE
